Escapades: Philippines – Day 1

As most of my family and friends know, I was on vacation in the Philippines for most of the month of July. I made the decision to write everyday I was there about what I did so I could share the adventure with my readers! Enjoy!

Thursday, July 11, 2013

My Mom, Aunt, Cousin, and I arrived in the Philippines around 11 P.M. Last night and we were planning on staying at a hotel for that one night before surprising my Grandmother of our arrival the next morning. Although she knew that we were going to arrive sometime over the summer, she had no idea when, which made the whole situation very exciting. This morning, my family and I went downstairs into the eating area to have some breakfast. I had the typical Filipino breakfast; white rice, egg, corned beef, Filipino sausage, and a cup of my favorite breakfast soup, Champorado. Champorado is basically rice in a sweet chocolate sauce. I can post a how-to recipe on how to make it for you guys! After eating, we went back to our rooms and got ready for my Uncle to come pick us up to go to my Grandmothers house. I took a shower just to make myself feel better and feel less nauseous and when it came time to turn off the water and get out… THE FAUCET WOULDN’T SHUT. I was so scared that I broke the shower and the floor in the bathroom was wet and I had no idea how to fix it. I kept turning the knob and it wouldn’t do anything. I told my Mom and she called the hotels service to come up to our room and fix it. I have no idea how they fixed it but they did. And I’m grateful that it wasn’t really my fault since they said “It happens all the time…” My uncle came about an hour later. I don’t remember the car ride to my Grandmothers house since I was so tired from the airplane ride from Abu Dhabi to the Philippines, and so incredibly jet lagged, that I went to sleep. When we got to my Grandmothers house she was sleeping so we woke her up and she was so happy to see us after 5 years! She looked at my Mom and I for a couple seconds before it registered in her brain that we were actually there in front of her and when it finally clicked, she ran up to us and hugged us tightly. We then got to meet the rest of my family, new and old, and they welcomed us with open arms. I went into the room that we were going to be sleeping in for the rest of our staying and I heard my mom open all the packages that we sent my Grandmother a while ago with old clothing and toys that my family doesn’t use anymore. The younger kids kept coming up to me asking for me to help them open some of the toys that were never opened and also asked me to help them figure out how to use some of them. They then proceeded to stay close to me when I was reading which I have to say got kind of annoying since I wanted to be by myself. The rest of the day went by pretty fast and before we knew it, it was pitch black outside and it was time to go to bed. Hopefully something more interesting will happen tomorrow but I guess only time can tell. Until tomorrow…

Didn’t Stand a Chance – Travis Garland (Cover)

Didn’t Stand a Chance by Travis Garland has been a song that I wanted to cover for a while but never had the time (or the effort) to actually take action and film. Although singing isn’t something that I have thought could be my main career, I am open to any experiences that would get me out there into the music world and show people, who don’t already know me, that I can sing, I had my good friend Delia film me when I was singing and we had a ton of fun doing this little project! A couple times during the video, some residents start to pass by and it got pretty awkward because… well.. I was freaking singing in a courtyard with my uke. There were kids that were running around and riding on their bikes which just added to all the distractions. I am definitely planning on making more videos, music covers and non- music covers. So keep and eye out and please visit my other blogs, follow me on Twitter where you can suggest what songs or videos I should do next, follow me on Instagram, and subscribe to my channel on YouTube! Thank you for watching!

Be There – Azazel Feat. Cassandra Ramsey

Recently, I had the amazing opportunity to record a song with my talented friend Azazel from The Walkabout Inc. He has an amazing talent and I would appreciate it if everyone listened to this song and subscribed to their channel on Youtube and also like them on Facebook. The Walkabout Inc. is a rap group in my town and everyone is talking about them. The Walkabout Inc. consists of Azazel, Apex, and Locke. The Walkabout is a movement. Everyone should get in on it and tell everyone about this new up and coming group! They have inspired me to follow my dreams and keep working for them no matter what happens. I hope they have the same impact on you as they have to me and a lot of other people. JOIN IN ON THE MOVEMENT! And please tell everyone you know to check The Walkabout Inc. out and support them! Thank You!

Confessions of a Vegan #1

Becoming Vegan at first seemed like it would be really hard. None of my friends or family have an interest of becoming Vegan with me so I thought that it would be hard to get the motivation I needed to keep on eating the right things. I’ve been researching a lot about this lifestyle and I feel that I can make this change in my life without quitting! On Saturday, I went to my local organic grocery store and I got a ton of stuff that I am very excited to try. From veggie burgers to soy chicken stir fry! Honestly, the selections are endless!

Some things that I have learned about this lifestyle is that you WILL run out of food so every week you should gather a lot of fruits and vegetables to keep yourself satisfied and full at any given time. The fruits and vegetables will help detox your body from all the junk that has been kept inside so having side effects to a change in your eating habits IS NORMAL. Just because these side effects do pop up doesn’t mean that you should stop eating in this new way. THEY WILL SUBSIDE! Just keep thinking to yourself that you are doing this for you. You will start to feel more energetic and look even better than you feel! It will just take some getting used to.

I start going 100% Vegan tomorrow and will be doing daily entrees about my experience. I will also be writing down what I have eaten for the day and some extra tips and advice if needed. This is a way for me not to go through this change in my life alone and to help inspire other people to do the same for a healthier lifestyle.

W. Boylston – Spring 2013

Since its Spring Break where I live, it gave myself and a few of my other friends to let out the inner artist inside each of us. From dancing, to modeling, to photography, we seem to capture the best qualities of each other. We traveled to W. Boylston to an abandoned chapel and took some photos and attempted to film a video for my channel but sadly, it didn’t work.

This was the view over the reservoir and it was so pretty. I was really tempted to jump into the water.

These are where the inner dancer came out in my friend Delia and myself. I have to say, we look like we know exactly what were doing.

My friend Emily is absolutely gorgeous!

You see that bag that she was on? You know how much that adorable thing cost? $2.00!! I have to say, she is the thrift shop queen haha!

My inner yogi haha. I’m really want to make yoga and everyday thing. I don’t want it to be something I do once in a while. I want it to become a lifestyle for me. I love being one with my mind, my body, and nature.

Since it is spring, might as well accessorize with some flowers!

We could be a band and this looks professional enough to be our album cover!

First Track Meet of 2013: April 4,2013

I had my first track meet of the season yesterday and it was one of the nicest days that we had this whole year! The sun was out, the sky was clear, the nice breeze kept everyone cool when we were doing our events, and it was very serene. It wasn’t one of my best meets and my pole vaulting wasn’t as good as last years but everyone was a little rusty. Here are some pictures from the day.

Sorry for not posting as much as I have been last month. I have been really busy with school and now with track. I will try my best to add new concepts to my posts and to also post more frequently! Thank you for understanding!

February Vacation Escapades

Since I am on February vacation, I have been on a lot of road trips. On the 16th, my dad and I had to drop off my mom at a party that she was going to. While waiting at a stop light I turned to my left and saw a pink school bus (also on my Instagram) with a pigs nose on the hood of the bus.Image

It was so out of the ordinary that it just seemed to fit in its surroundings. Later that day, my friends and I decided to do some cooking which was extremely interesting since we were all virgins in the kitchen. Lets just say that there was a lot of tension and chaos between us but it was all worth it when we made delicious Lemon Chicken Frittata with noodles. We then proceeded to dance to C’mon Eileen for the rest of the night.

On the 17th, my friend and I went to see her brother do some Jujitsu. We were driving through the country when I looked out the window and saw this amazing view!Image

It’s very refreshing to see this considering how I live in the suburbs. When we finally arrived at the jujitsu building, it looked really sketchy from the outside but the inside is very cozy. You know what they say, never judge a book by it cover.

On the 18th, my mom really wanted to go to the Yankee Candle Factory and it was way more fun than I expected it to be. Right when you walk in you smells all the different candles for every season and holiday! They had Vanilla Cupcake, Midnightsummers Dream, Whoopie Pie, and SO MUCH MORE. They also had a huge section just filled with candy. I swear it was so hard for me to pick what kind of candy that i wanted since they literally had every single brand and flavor. After eating some clam chowder with my parents, we then proceeded to another part of the building where it felt like Christmas again. They made the top of the building look like the night sky and every couple of minutes they would make it snow. Image

The Christmas village was really cute and my family loved how it was based off of Germany. They had furniture that was imported from there like chairs and these beautiful hand crafted clocks that were just amazing to look at. When you started walking out of the Christmas village section they had a sign that showed were everything was in proximity from where you were standing. Image

Once we finally got out of the Christmas village section, I saw these elegant looking profiles that I was considering of buying but I decided that I could probably make my own with the profiles of Beethoven and other people that would fit my room better. (Yes, I am planning a DIY video and/or post soon) Image

I am so happy to be started my blog again and I hope that everyone who reads my posts would learn something new and possibly be inspired for a more creative lifestyle. Thank you for reading and I promise you that there would be many more to come.

Invictus

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

– William Ernest Henley

This poem is my all time favorite because Invictus is Latin for Unbreakable or Unconquerable. Whenever I hit a rough patch in my everyday life, I just remember this poem. The last 2 lines really stand out to me.

I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

It means to me that only you have the power to make decisions in your life that you think is right for yourself
