As most of my family and friends know, I was on vacation in the Philippines for most of the month of July. I made the decision to write everyday I was there about what I did so I could share the adventure with my readers! Enjoy!

My Mom, Aunt, Cousin, and I arrived in the Philippines around 11 P.M. Last night and we were planning on staying at a hotel for that one night before surprising my Grandmother of our arrival the next morning. Although she knew that we were going to arrive sometime over the summer, she had no idea when, which made the whole situation very exciting. This morning, my family and I went downstairs into the eating area to have some breakfast. I had the typical Filipino breakfast; white rice, egg, corned beef, Filipino sausage, and a cup of my favorite breakfast soup, Champorado. Champorado is basically rice in a sweet chocolate sauce. I can post a how-to recipe on how to make it for you guys! After eating, we went back to our rooms and got ready for my Uncle to come pick us up to go to my Grandmothers house. I took a shower just to make myself feel better and feel less nauseous and when it came time to turn off the water and get out… THE FAUCET WOULDN’T SHUT. I was so scared that I broke the shower and the floor in the bathroom was wet and I had no idea how to fix it. I kept turning the knob and it wouldn’t do anything. I told my Mom and she called the hotels service to come up to our room and fix it. I have no idea how they fixed it but they did. And I’m grateful that it wasn’t really my fault since they said “It happens all the time…” My uncle came about an hour later. I don’t remember the car ride to my Grandmothers house since I was so tired from the airplane ride from Abu Dhabi to the Philippines, and so incredibly jet lagged, that I went to sleep. When we got to my Grandmothers house she was sleeping so we woke her up and she was so happy to see us after 5 years! She looked at my Mom and I for a couple seconds before it registered in her brain that we were actually there in front of her and when it finally clicked, she ran up to us and hugged us tightly. We then got to meet the rest of my family, new and old, and they welcomed us with open arms. I went into the room that we were going to be sleeping in for the rest of our staying and I heard my mom open all the packages that we sent my Grandmother a while ago with old clothing and toys that my family doesn’t use anymore. The younger kids kept coming up to me asking for me to help them open some of the toys that were never opened and also asked me to help them figure out how to use some of them. They then proceeded to stay close to me when I was reading which I have to say got kind of annoying since I wanted to be by myself. The rest of the day went by pretty fast and before we knew it, it was pitch black outside and it was time to go to bed. Hopefully something more interesting will happen tomorrow but I guess only time can tell. Until tomorrow…
